Manœuvre budgétaire, Renzi : « Gouvernement de malins, le Centre-gauche doit se réveiller »

Milan, Dec. 21 (LaPresse) – “We have never seen a Finance Minister who is not only under the protection of Palazzo Chigi but is also distrusted by his own party, the Lega. We are facing the scandal of a budget law that, by December 20, had not even been voted on.” This is what Italia Viva leader Matteo Renzi said in an interview with Repubblica. Regarding the Meloni government, Renzi added, “It’s not even clear which super-amendment of the super-amendment of the super-amendment will be discussed.” Minister Giorgetti is “so cautious that Mario Monti in comparison seems like Che Guevara: we have returned to austerity and the phrase ‘the operation was perfectly successful, the patient is dead’ because this is the least significant budget law in twenty years, impacting roughly 1% of GDP.”

The amendment on building amnesties, removed from the bill, “was the last gift of a budget of taxes and handouts. The opposition was ready to obstruct,” Renzi said, calling it “a slap in the face to honest citizens who follow the rules,” which, in his view, shows that “with Prime Minister Meloni, those who follow the rules are fools. It’s the triumph of trickery.” On the polls, Renzi urged comparing coalitions, saying: “We are more or less even. It will come down to a few votes, the Center-Left must believe in it. Today we are not discussing a Renzi government or the yellow-green government. Today Meloni is in power, and those who want to remove her must find points of unity, not distinctions.”
